The MENTOR Initiative Director and Chief Executive, Richard Allan, has been honoured as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to Victims of War and Natural Disasters in the King’s New Year Honours 2023 Overseas and International List.

Richard founded MENTOR in 2002 to reduce death and suffering from tropical diseases in humanitarian crises. Since then, the organisation has worked together with dynamic international and country partners to help save millions of lives in 18 countries.

“I feel immensely privileged to receive this honour. I would like to thank my family, friends and colleagues whose tireless support and hard work has helped to bring hope to so many, despite the challenges.

“MENTOR’s experience in complex, challenging situations, delivering a range of effective and integrated activities, and helping to develop and evaluate new disease control solutions, ensures the organisation can continue serving people most at risk of disease for as long as it’s needed.” – Richard Allan.
