A recent large-scale indoor residual spray campaign across 39 villages and 23 camps in Syria reached over half a million people at high risk of the neglected tropical disease leishmaniasis.
MENTOR delivered the campaign between June and July spraying over 95,000 homes and 7,898 tents to help reduce the number of disease-transmitting sandflies and create a safer living environment.
Funded by the Syria Cross-Border Humanitarian Fund (SCHF), the campaign was implemented in coordination with the sub-health directorates in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA-Syria).
“The IRS campaign reaffirms MENTOR’s commitment to reducing leishmaniasis and protecting the health and dignity of families across Syria. This achievement reflects the importance of collaboration with local authorities, sub-health directorates and community partners, as well as our continued commitment to integrated prevention and control strategies.” – Adham Al Naser, Assistant Prevention Coordinator.
